8:45 AM | Scorching heat and humidity expands east for Thursday and Friday

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Mostly sunny, hot and humid with only a slight chance for a thunderstorm, low 90’s

Partly cloudy, warm and muggy, patchy fog possible late, lows near 75

Mostly sunny, very hot and humid, mid-to-upper 90’s

Mostly sunny, continued very hot and humid, an isolated thunderstorm, upper 90’s

Mostly sunny, very hot and humid, scattered thunderstorms, mid 90’s

Mostly sunny, not quite as hot, scattered thunderstorms, low 90’s

Partly sunny, chance for showers and thunderstorms, upper 80’s

The heat wave that has been confined to the middle of the country will expand to the Mid-Atlantic region tomorrow and high temperatures here will likely reach the mid-to-upper 90’s on Thursday and Friday. Humidity levels will be high as well resulting in even higher heat index values. Slight relief is possible over the weekend as slightly less hot air may drop down the east coast; however, real relief will have to wait until early next week. A stronger cool front will move in from the west late on Monday and highs temperatures by Tuesday afternoon should be back in the more seasonable low-to-mid 80’s.
