More showers and thunderstorms are likely today and tonight as our significant rain event continues, but the overall rain amounts should not be quite as heavy or as steady as yesterday. In fact, Sunday turned out to be one of the wettest days ever at Philly International Airport with nearly 5 inches of rain. The low pressure system causing this rain event, however, is a slow mover and we’ll continue to have a threat for more showers and thunderstorms right into Tuesday. When all is said and done, this storm system will have dumped several inches of rainfall on many sections of the Mid-Atlantic. High pressure will finally take control of our weather on Wednesday, but that reprieve may be short-lived as more unsettled weather is threatening for Thursday and Friday.
