Early morning strong thunderstorms have quickly ended our one day reprieve from the overall unsettled weather pattern. The high pressure system that produced a full day of sunshine on Wednesday has now shifted off the east coast and this has allowed for unsettled weather to return and it will last for awhile. Partial sunshine will return by the midday hours today following the morning storms, but then showers and thunderstorms will threaten again later this afternoon and tonight and that threat for rain cannot be ruled out on any of the next several days right into early next week. An inch or more of rain accumulated quickly this morning and another inch or so can fall between this afternoon and tomorrow night - which is not good news for the many rain-soaked regions of the Mid-Atlantic.
