Discussion

High pressure sitting over the Ohio Valley will control our weather through mid-week featuring plenty of sunshine and comfortable conditions. August closes out tomorrow and it, of course, has been an amazing month for rainfall here with Central Park just less than 19 inches (18.95). Temperatures are almost right at the normal mark for the month given the cool down of the last few days. Elsewhere, the tropics remain active and there is a new tropical storm called “Katia” and it will become a strong hurricane by next week as it only slows moves through the Atlantic. It is too early to say for sure whether it will ever reach the US east coast and, if that were to actually happen, it would not be until late next week. Also, indications are quite strong that a tropical system will develop in the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend possibly heading ultimately in the direction of Texas or Louisiana.
