Showers and thunderstorms are developing across southern Virginia and are headed towards the Washington, D.C. region. This area of rain is likely to reach the DC region during the late afternoon and early evening hours and some of the rain can come down hard for awhile. The unsettled weather pattern continues tomorrow, tomorrow night and Thursday and more heavy rain is likely at times. The weather will finally calm down (and dry out) over the weekend following the passage of a late week strong cold frontal system that will usher in much cooler air for the weekend.
