5:15 PM | Band of heavier showers headed north towards the Philly metro region and should arrive between 6:30 and 7:30 PM

Paul Dorian

An impressive looking east-to-west oriented band of showers and thunderstorms has developed in the past couple of hours and it currently stretches from DC to Cape May, New Jersey. This band is moving rapidly to the north and should enhance the rainfall in and around the Philly metro region as well as the interior sections of South Jersey between about 6:30 and 7:30 PM. There will be some downpours associated with this band as well as a few rumbles of thunder in spots. The weather pattern calms down later this evening with a diminishing of the rain threat, but gusty winds will continue through tomorrow.
