7:15 AM | Still more showers today as colder air moves in, could even see some flakes to the north and west before ending

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Mostly cloudy and colder today with occasional showers that could even mix with snow to the north and west of the District before winding down later today, the breeze will pick up this afternoon, temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40’s this morning and they will drop slowly during the day

Mostly clear, brisk and cold, upper 20’s

Mostly sunny, breezy, cold, upper 40’s

Partly sunny, a bit milder, mid 50’s

Mainly cloudy, mild, low-to-mid 60’s; chance for a shower or two at night

Mainly cloudy, showers possible, near 60

Mostly cloudy, cooler, mid 50’s

A second wave of low pressure will ride along a cold frontal system early today extending our period of unsettled weather, and it’ll be noticeably colder than recent days. Temperatures will drop slowly through the 40's today and the occasional showers could even mix with snowflakes north and west of the District before ending later today. Mainly clear skies tonight will allow for temperatures to drop to near 30 in many spots and the cold weather will continue on Friday with temperatures no better than the upper 40’s for highs. High pressure, however, will then slip off the east coast on Saturday and this will allow for a warming trend to begin as winds will shift around to a southwesterly direction. In fact, temperatures by Sunday afternoon will once again approach the 65 degree mark.
