The combination of a strong high pressure system to our north and a double-barrel low pressure system will bring precipitation into the region on Wednesday after a dry, cooler Tuesday. A wintry mix of snow, sleet and/or rain should arrive during the mid-morning hours on Wednesday and it could generate small accumulations before changing to all rain during the mid-day and early afternoon hours. Some slippery spots are possible during the mid-and-late moring hours; especially, to the north and west of the immediate NYC metro region. Some of the rain during the afternoon and early evening will fall heavily at times. The area from northeastern PA, NW NJ to the Lower Hudson Valley are likely to recieve a few inches of snow and ice at the onset of Wednesday's precipitation event. While the rain will can come down hard at times here tomorrow afternoon and early evening, it should lighten up to just a few showers later tomorrow night and Thursday. The next system to affect us will be a strong cold front on Saturday that will bring more rain here and possibly a strong thunderstorm as well. Elsewhere, a major snowstorm is set to hit the Dakotas, Minnesota and western Wisconsin tonight and tomorrow with more than a foot of snow in spots. Also, upstate New York and interior New England will get significant snow and ice on Wednesday and Thursday.
