2:25 PM | Showers tonight signal the end of the two-day warm spell, but warmth returns next week following a two-day setback

Paul Dorian

Discussion

It has reached 70 degrees this afternoon in DC, Philly and NYC, but a cold front will bring an end to this two-day warm up by morning. Showers will accompany the passage of the frontal system from late this evening into early tomorrow morning (10PM-6AM) and high temperatures tomorrow will be way down in the 50’s compared to the low 70’s of today. Rainfall amounts in the overnight hours are likely to be in the quarter inch range as the front passes through the region. It’ll turn even colder tomorrow night and Saturday with 20’s likely by later tomorrow night and highs on Saturday confined to the 40’s. Looking ahead, another major league warming trend will begin here on Sunday and it appears that, in general, the next two weeks will be quite warm throughout a large part of the country including the Mid-Atlantic region following this upcoming temporary setback.
