12:15 PM | Break in the action now, but more late day heavy showers and storms possible

Paul Dorian

Discussion

The heavy, steady rainfall from this morning is moving into New York and New England and we’ll have a much quieter time over the next few hours. Actually, there can even be some brightening skies over the next few hours, but this doesn’t mean the threat is over for additional heavy showers and strong thunderstorms. In fact, any daytime heating that we do receive this afternoon through brief sunny intervals will actually help to destabilize the atmosphere and increase our chances for strong-to-severe thunderstorms late in the day or early tonight. Bottom line - stay tuned as the “lull” over the next few hours may be followed by more late day showers and storms.
