Rain moved into the region overnight as a Great Lakes low pressure system pushed a cool front in this direction and some of the rain was heavy at times. The rain is not over with yet as there are additional bands of showers and embedded thunderstorms to our southwest and they are heading in this direction and some of that rain is likely to be heavy at times. High pressure will then build in for the weekend and sunshine is quite likely for both days. The skies should be at least partially clear late Saturday night and early Sunday morning (pre-dawn hours) for favorable viewing of the Orionid meteor shower which promises to be quite good this year given the lack of moonlight to interfere. Looking farther ahead, the weather pattern looks quite interesting by late next week into the following week as at the same time Arctic air may plunge into the NW US and Central Plains, the tropics look to be active with perhaps one last gasp and a possible tropical system near Florida.
