Discussion

High pressure will shift off the coast today and low pressure will form on the southern Plains and then move northeast to just off the Mid-Atlantic coast by later tomorrow. It’ll be cold enough around here for a mix of rain and snow beginning by early morning and then the precipitation could become all snow with small accumulations possible in the distant northern and western suburbs on the order of a trace to an inch or two. The snow winds down by late tomorrow and high pressure will return for the second half of the week, but it'll remain quite cold. Milder weather is likely by early next week.
