High pressure will control the weather around here to close out the work week, but moisture from another storm system will approach the region towards morning. Snow will begin early on Saturday as the storm moves to a position off the New Jersey coastline by evening. Accumulations on the order of 2-4 inches are likely in and around the Philly metro region and there can be some accumulations all the way to the Jersey coastline by the latter part of the day. The storm moves quickly and we’ll get back to dry and cold weather early next week. Elsewhere, another dramatic stratospheric warming event is about to occur near the North Pole in the next 10 days or so and it is detailed in today's video. This type of atmospheric event can sometimes be a precursor to additional cold air outbreaks into the US in coming weeks.
