Friday Night

Mostly sunny, windy, very cold, low-to-mid 20’s

Partly sunny, breezy, still very cold, upper 20’s

Mostly cloudy, not as cold, chance for some snow or rain, mid 30’s

Mostly cloudy, milder, low-to-mid 40’s

Bitter cold conditions will continue today and the chill will be magnified by wind gusts of 30 mph or more which will generate wind chill values near zero. Low pressure will head from the Tennessee Valley on Friday to the Mid-Atlantic coastline and accumulating snow is likely throughout the region during the afternoon and evening hours. At this time, the late week storm appears likely to generate a light-to-moderate snowfall for the region on the order of 1-3 inches with slick road conditions developing - we’ll continue to monitor the situation for any late changes. By the way, the snow should be of the "light and fluffy" variety that is easy to shovel. More very cold air will follow for the upcoming weekend; however, moderation in temperatures is likely early next week. In fact, it'll turn much milder on Tuesday and Wednesday, but that warm up will be short-lived as colder air returns on Thursday.
