Our big warm up will peak on Sunday afternoon with high temperatures on that day likely to reach the mid 60’s. Occasional showers are possible between tonight and early Sunday and some patchy fog is likely to form in many spots. An approaching cold front will increase our chances for showers later Sunday and Sunday night and that threat for showers will continue into Monday as the frontal system gets hung up along the east coast and a wave of low pressure rides along the boundary zone. There is an outside chance that the lingering rain showers end as light snow as colder air filters into the region. By Tuesday (Christmas Eve), cold air will become firmly entrenched in the region and high temperatures will be confined to the 30's and that should be the case on Christmas Day as well. An upper level disturbance could cause some snow shower activity in the area on Tuesday. Looking ahead, the pattern looks quite cold as we close out the month of December and begin the new year.
