Weather forecasting and analysis, space and historic events, climate information

7:00 AM | Back to 80 degrees today and then well up into the 80's on Thursday; cool frontal passage late Thursday will bring showers and possible strong thunderstorms to the region

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Mostly cloudy skies early then partial sunshine during the mid-day and afternoon hours, warmer than yesterday with highs reaching the 80 degree mark

Mostly cloudy, mild, muggy, some fog possible late, lows in the upper 60's

The warmest day of the week with partial sunshine, warm and humid conditions, good chance for PM showers and thunderstorms and some of the storms can be strong, upper 80’s

Thursday Night

Evening showers and thunderstorms possible; otherwise, mostly cloudy skies, turning cooler late, low-to-mid 60’s

Becoming partly sunny, cooler and less humid, low-to-mid 70’s

Mostly cloudy, quite cool, showers likely, low 70’s

Partly sunny, quite cool, low 70’s

Partly sunny, still quite cool, low 70’s

Low pressure off the east coast this morning will continue to push area from the region and this will allow for improvement in the weather with the return of some sunshine and warmer conditions compared to yesterday. Temperatures this afternoon should reach the 80 degree mark, but the warmest weather of the week will take place on Thursday just ahead of the next strong cool frontal system. That front will generate numerous showers and thunderstorms later tomorrow and some of the storms can be strong with brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Once that front clears the east coast early Friday, another cool air mass will move into the region and the weekend promises to be well below normal for this time of year with showers likely on Saturday.
