7:00 AM | Significant rain on Thursday with strong cold front...progressively colder this weekend with coldest day yet on Sunday

Paul Dorian

6-Day NYC Forecast

Mostly cloudy, becoming breezy, milder, chance for a shower late, highs in the mid-to-upper 50’s

Mainly cloudy, breezy, much milder than recent nights, showers likely late, temperatures holding steady in the 50's or even rising slowly

Mainly cloudy, windy, mild, periods of rain, some of the rain can be heavy, maybe even a thunderstorm, mid 60’s

Thursday Night

Mainly cloudy with showers likely before midnight and some of the rain can be heavy at times, windy, turning colder towards morning, upper 40’s

Mainly sunny, breezy, cooler, mid 50’s

Mainly sunny, breezy, colder, upper 40’s

Partly sunny, windy, downright cold, mid 40’s

Partly sunny, still quite cold, mid-to-upper 40’s

Milder air will push back into the Mid-Atlantic region later today as winds shift direction from the east to the south-to-southwest. A few showers are possible later today and early tonight with the return of the milder air and then more significant rainfall is coming late tonight and on Thursday as a strong cold front reaches the I-95 corridor. The passage of that initial cold frontal system and a secondary weekend cold front will produce progressively colder weather around here from Friday into Sunday. In fact, Sunday should turn out to be the coldest day of the season so far and there will be a strong NW wind to make it feel even colder.
