Two storms will impact the DC metro region this week with the first likely to generate all rain from early tonight into Tuesday morning, but a wintry mix cannot be ruled out at the onset of the second system on Thursday. A large area of moisture is pushing northeast today from the southern states and rain will overspread our region early tonight and continue into Tuesday morning. Cold air will follow this system for tomorrow night and Wednesday and will be locked in place when a late week coastal storm gets going. As a result, it could be cold enough for a wintry mix at the onset of the late week storm; primarily, in higher elevation areas north and west of Route I-95. Another cold blast is destined to arrive here during the upcoming weekend, but there are signs for a warm up during Thanksgiving week.
