A major warm up will ensue in the eastern US this week as high pressure ridging replaces the persistent upper-level trough that has kept a lid on temperatures in much of the region in recent days. Temperatures here should climb well into the 70’s today and then 80+ degree highs are likely for much of the remainder of next week.
