6-Day forecast for the DC metro region

Clouds this morning will give way to some sunshine for the afternoon, becoming noticeably warmer, highs in the low-to-mid 80’s

Partly cloudy, mild, muggy, lows in the upper 60’s

Mainly sunny, unseasonably hot and perhaps record-challenging, lower 90’s for afternoon highs

Wednesday Night

Mainly cloudy, mild, chance for a shower or two, upper 60’s for late night lows

Mainly cloudy, not as warm, chance of showers, low-to-mid 80’s

Partly sunny, noticeably cooler, chance of showers, near 70 degrees

Mainly sunny, cool, mid-to-upper 60’s

Partly sunny, turning warmer, chance of late day or nighttime showers, low-to-mid 70’s

High pressure pushes off the coast today and this will open the door for much warmer air to push in from our southwest. Temperatures should climb back to the 80's this afternoon and then make a run into the 90's on Wednesday – perhaps even challenging the record for the date in some spots. Much cooler air arrives on Thursday and Friday and it stays cool going into the upcoming weekend. We'll start to turn warmer again early next week and there will likely be a chance for showers and thunderstorms on Sunday night and Monday.
