6-Day forecast for the DC metro region

Warmer today and becoming windy with more clouds than sun, scattered showers and a possible PM thunderstorm, highs in the upper 70’s

Evening showers and thunderstorms likely; otherwise, mainly cloudy skies, mild, lows in the upper 50’s

Mainly cloudy, a bit cooler, chance for a few PM showers, upper 60's for afternoon highs

Saturday Night

Mainly cloudy with occasional rain, maybe a thunderstorm, cool, mid 50’s for overnight lows

Quite cool with cloudy skies, occasional rain, maybe a thunderstorm, lower 60's

Mainly cloudy, cool, occasional showers are likely, mid 60’s

Partly sunny, a bit milder, chance for a couple of showers, mid 60’s

Mainly sunny, warmer, lower 70’s

A cold frontal system will approach the region today and it’ll turn windy and warmer ahead of it with temperatures jumping well into the 70’s this afternoon and there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will try to provide a decent start to the weekend, but a soaking rain event is likely from late Saturday into Monday. The rain during this extended event may come in two waves with the heaviest likely from Saturday night into Sunday morning and then Sunday night into Monday. It will be quite cool during this event as well with temperatures likely doing no better than the low-to-mid 60's for highs on Sunday and Monday.
