6-Day forecast for the DC metro region

Clouds this morning and partly sunny skies this afternoon, warm, chance of drizzle this morning then showers and thunderstorms possible late in the day, highs in the lower 80’s

Mainly cloudy, mild, good chance of showers and thunderstorms, lows near 65 degrees

Mainly cloudy, warm, showers likely; especially, later in the day, maybe a thunderstorm or two, upper 70’s for afternoon highs

Saturday Night

Periods of rain, maybe a thunderstorm, some of the rain can be heavy at times, mild, lower 60’s for overnight lows

Mainly cloudy, cooler, showers likely in the AM, upper 60’s

Mainly sunny, nice, near 75 degrees

Mainly sunny, warm, near 80 degrees

Partly sunny, warm, chance of showers, upper 70’s

Showers and thunderstorms are possible later today and again tonight as a cold front arrives in the region and this front will then stall in the Mid-Atlantic this weekend. Low pressure will pull out of the Tennessee Valley on Saturday and ride along the stalled out boundary zone and right towards the Mid-Atlantic region. As a result, more rain is likely here from later tomorrow into Sunday morning and some of it can be heavy at times; especially, in the overnight hours. Nicer weather will return early next week as high pressure follows the departing weekend low pressure system.
