7:00 AM | *Warmer today with afternoon highs well up in the 70's*

Paul Dorian

A cool front will approach the region tonight and it’ll have trouble pushing through as it’ll align with upper-level winds. This front will meander in the Mid-Atlantic region on Wednesday and Thursday keeping it somewhat unsettled and then another cold front will arrive on Friday. The late week frontal system is liable to cause showers and thunderstorms as we close out the work week and while the weekend may start off on a decent note, more rain is possible as we close out the upcoming Mother's Day weekend.

7:00 AM | *A brief break in the wet pattern as we begin the new week*

Paul Dorian

After a weekend that featured soaking rainfall, there will be a break in the action for the next couple of days as high pressure follows the departing low pressure system. It will become unsettled again later this week as a series of fronts will impact the region. The first front arrives late tomorrow as a cool front and this system will meander nearby during Wednesday and Thursday. Another cold front will approach from the west on Friday raising the chances for end-of-week showers and thunderstorms.

7:00 AM | *A soaking rain event this weekend*

Paul Dorian

A back door cool front has passed through the region once again and today will turn out cooler than yesterday with some light rain or drizzle this morning and an afternoon shower or thunderstorm is possible. Showers and thunderstorms are possible again tonight as a cold front arrives in the region and this front will then stall in the Mid-Atlantic this weekend. Low pressure will pull out of the Tennessee Valley on Saturday and ride along the stalled out boundary zone and right towards the Mid-Atlantic region. As a result, more rain is likely here from late tomorrow into Sunday afternoon and some of it can be heavy at times; especially, in the overnight hours. Nicer weather will return early next week as high pressure follows the departing weekend low pressure system.

7:00 AM | *Warmer today following the passage of a warm front*

Paul Dorian

A frontal system to our south this morning will push northward as a warm front later in the day and temperatures are likely to climb to the low-to-mid 70’s in the NYC metro region. Showers are possible later today and again tonight and then are likely to threaten us later tomorrow and tomorrow night as a cold front approaches the area. That cold front will then stall in the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend and a wave of low pressure will bring more showers and thunderstorms here from later Saturday into early Sunday and this system has the potential for some heavy rainfall.

7:00 AM | *Looking like rain chances will continue into the weekend*

Paul Dorian

An onshore flow of air and persistent cloud cover today will knock several degrees off the temperatures compared to Tuesday, but then we’ll turn noticeably warmer on Thursday afternoon with highs likely to be near 70 degrees. A frontal system to our south today will push northward as a warm front early Thursday and then another (cold) front will arrive on Friday night. That front will stall in the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend and a wave of low pressure will bring more showers and thunderstorms from later Saturday into early Sunday.

7:00 AM | *Mild today with the chance of showers...cooler tomorrow as an east wind forms*

Paul Dorian

High pressure will lose control of the weather around here today and a frontal system will meander in the Mid-Atlantic region for much of the week and weekend. As a result, our temperatures will tend to bounce up and down with today and Thursday becoming warmer, but it’ll be cooler on Wednesday as low-level winds become southeasterly for a short time. Also, there will be multiple shots at showers this week as this frontal system oscillates in the region, but much rain-free time as well.

7:00 AM | *An unsettled week with multiple shots at showers*

Paul Dorian

The new week will start off with high pressure in control, but it will have a short-term benefit as an overall active weather pattern will bring us multiple shots at showers this week. A frontal system will meander around the Mid-Atlantic region for much of the week and bring us showers chances along with possible thunderstorms and temperatures will tend to be up and down. A cold front may arrive at the end of the week and this could end the unsettled spell of weather and perhaps lead us to a decent weekend.

7:00 AM | *Occasional rain today and perhaps a strong late day/early evening thunderstorm...strong winds late tonight and on Saturday as cooler, drier air floods the region*

Paul Dorian

Low pressure will push to our northwest today and the combination of a warm front this morning and a cold front late today will bring us occasional rain and a possible late day/early evening strong thunderstorm with the most likely timetable for a line of storms between 4 and 8PM. Any late day/early evening thunderstorm can produce damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall with localized flooding. Temperatures will warm up some later today following the passage of the warm front, but will drop dramatically late tonight after the cold frontal passage and winds will whip out of the NW towards morning. Strong winds are to continue on Saturday to go along with mainly sunny skies and cooler conditions. Another cold front arrives on Sunday and it too can result in some shower activity for the Mid-Atlantic region. An overall active weather pattern will bring us additional chances for rain around here later next week.

7:00 AM | *Showers tonight and occasional rain on Friday as warm front and cold front combination impacts the region*

Paul Dorian

Low pressure will push from the central Plains towards the Ohio Valley later today and tonight and it will push a warm frontal system into the region by early tomorrow which will be followed by the passage of a cold frontal system on Friday night. A couple of showers are possible today across the NYC metro region and occasional showers are likely tonight. On Friday, it'll turn milder and there will be occasional rain and perhaps a strong thunderstorm or two. Some of the rain can be heavy at times later tomorrow just ahead of the strong cold frontal system. Winds will pick up noticeably late tomorrow night and Saturday will be a windy, dry day with cooler conditions and mainly sunny skies. Another strong cold front arrives on Sunday with the likelihood of more shower activity in the Mid-Atlantic region.

7:00 AM | *Next rain chances comes late tomorrow into Friday...another chance of showers on Sunday*

Paul Dorian

A cool frontal system passed through the region last night and today will be slightly cooler with a noticeable NW breeze at times. High pressure will continue to control our weather as we begin the day on Thursday, but showers are possible by the late afternoon and quite likely tomorrow night. The shower threat will continue here on Friday and there can be a thunderstorm mixed in as well as low pressure pushes a couple of frontal systems through our region. Dry weather is likely to start the weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region, but another shower threat is possible on Sunday as a strong cold front approaches from the northwest.
