7:00 AM | *Summer-like for much of the week*

Paul Dorian

The overall weather pattern tends to change somewhat as we begin a new week with and upper-level trough moving east over the Great Lakes and a frontal system is likely to arrive in this area late today. As a result, there can be a shower or thunderstorm during the PM hours as temperatures climb into the mid and upper 80’s. Zonal flow aloft (west-to-east) will take over on Tuesday and this may bring less of a threat for showers and thunderstorms with daily highs likely near the 90 degree mark.

7:00 AM | *Highs near 90 degrees next few days*

Paul Dorian

High pressure ridging over the Gulf of Mexico will weaken as we begin the new week and an upper level trough will push south across the coastal Carolinas. This will lead to high moisture content across Florida increasing rain chances here as the week progresses. Temperatures will peak each of the next few days right near the 90 degree mark in central Florida.

7:00 AM | *Turns much more summer-like this week*

Paul Dorian

The first stretch of summer-like weather is coming our way this week and highs during the second half of the week will approach the 90 degrees on a daily basis. High pressure will push offshore today and lose control of our weather after providing a very nice weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region. A warm front will lift through the region late tonight and likely produce showers and thunderstorms from late tonight into Tuesday and some of the rain can be heavy at times. High pressure will build back into the area at mid-week and it’ll turn summer-like for the second half of the week.

7:00 AM | *The first extended stretch of summer-like weather coming this week*

Paul Dorian

The first stretch of summer-like weather is coming our way this week and highs much of the week will be at or slightly above the 90 degree mark. High pressure will push offshore today and lose control of our weather after providing a very nice weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region. A warm front will lift through the region later today and then a weak cold front will arrive on Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms are likely from later today into the late night hours and some of the rain can be heavy at times. High pressure will build back into the area later tomorrow and it’ll turn summer-like here into the weekend with daily highs at or above 90 degrees.

7:15 AM | *An intriguing large mass found under the biggest crater on the moon*

Paul Dorian

The Moon is home to one of the largest known impact craters in the solar system known as the Lunar South Pole-Aitken Basin, but because it is located on the far side of the moon, it cannot be viewed directly from Earth. At 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) across, the South Pole-Aitken Basin covers nearly a quarter of the lunar surface - and there's something massive buried beneath it.  Detailed readings made using lunar orbiters indicate there is something huge enough under that crater to be causing a significant gravitational anomaly. Researchers say it could be a huge lump of metal from the asteroid that formed the South Pole-Aitken Basin. Instead of sinking down into the moon's interior, it remained buried in the moon's mantle. Computer simulations suggest that this is a plausible explanation, but other explanations have also been proposed.

7:00 AM | *Morning showers then becoming windy today with lowering humidity...sets us up for a decent weekend*

Paul Dorian

A strong cold front is passing through the region early today with lingering showers, but it’ll pave the way for a nice break in the action from the recent very wet weather pattern here in the Mid-Atlantic. Winds will increase noticeably this afternoon from a northwesterly direction and the humidity will drop sharply later today. High pressure building over southeastern Canada should be strong enough and close enough to produce decent weather around here through much of the upcoming weekend. More showers will return to the region later Sunday night and there can be shower and thunderstorm activity on Monday and Tuesday with temperatures well up in the 80's.
