Strong high pressure is expanding from the Upper Midwest and into the Northeast US today and it will stick around in that location for much of the week. From this position, this high pressure system will generate a persistent onshore flow for the area for much of the week. As a result, there will be a daily threat for showers and thunderstorms given the added moisture from off the ocean and winds will pick up noticeably by the middle of the week.
