Discussion

As low pressure moves from Texas into Arkansas, rain will push into our area as a warm front advances to the north and this could be a soaking rain event with a thunderstorm or two mixed into the picture. In fact, there is an outside chance at some severe thunderstorm activity in the Tennessee valley as there will be strong upper-level dynamics in the region. Final rainfall totals could exceed two inches in parts of the region by the time the evening arrives. Another storm system is likely to impact the area at the end of the week and into the weekend before colder air arrives by early next week. Indeed, there is even a chance for some snow in the region on Christmas Day as temperatures are likely to be held in the 30’s following the passage of a strong cold frontal system.
