Weather forecasting and analysis, space and historic events, climate information

7:30 AM | Very warm and humid Saturday/Sunday; downpours possible by Labor Day then cooler next week

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Mostly sunny, warm, an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon; especially, well N and W of the District, highs in the mid 80’s

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for a shower or thunderstorm, lows near 65

Partly sunny, warm, near 80

Partly sunny, more humid, warm, chance for a shower or thunderstorm, mid 80’s

Partly sunny, very warm, humid, chance for a few showers and thunderstorms, upper 80’s

Partly sunny, humid, not as warm, chance for more showers and thunderstorms and some of the rain could be heavy, near 80

Partly sunny, cooler, highs in the mid-to-upper 70’s

High pressure will continue to provide us with decent weather today and tomorrow, but it then shifts off the east coast this weekend and will pump in more humid air our way. Simultaneously, low pressure will head east from the Ohio Valley and this will cause unsettled weather here this weekend and on Labor Day Monday as well. The threat exists for some shower and thunderstorm activity on both weekend days and on Labor Day as well. In fact, some of the rain can come down hard Sunday night or Monday as a cool front approaches from the west. This front will usher in cooler air by Tuesday of next week and we should actually hold in the 70's for highs.
