Discussion

The week will begin with continued cool temperatures, but Tuesday will see an increase in humidity and temperatures should climb back to 80 degrees. The real noticeable change will occur on Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures will soar both days into the 90’s. This extreme heat will be short-lived, however, as a cold front will approach on Friday and it may bring us a few showers and thunderstorms to close out the work week. Once that front passes by the weekend, temperatures will return to much more comfortable levels with highs near 80 on Saturday. As far as the recent coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are concerned, the "double hit" over the weekend indeed caused northern lights to be seen across parts of the northern US on Saturday night including reports as far south as Maryland's Assateague Island.
