Heavy rain and strong wind possible later today...improvement for the weekend

Paul Dorian

The same stationary frontal system that has affected our weather for the last few days will play a role here for one more day. Low pressure will ride along that front later today and this will enhance the shower and thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms that form today will contain torrential downpours and damaging wind gusts and some areas could receive a couple inches of rain in a short period of time causing localized flooding conditions. The heavy rain threat winds down later tonight and the weekend should feature some sunshine on both days with very warm temperatures as well. The next front that could throw another thunderstorm our way will come through on Monday night or Tuesday. Today- mostly cloudy, very humid, not as hot with more widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms, some of these storms will contain torrential downpours and damaging wind gusts, upper 80’s

Tonight- still the threat for heavy showers and thunderstorms this evening, muggy, lows near 70

Sat- becoming mostly sunny, very warm, upper 80’s

Sun- mainly sunny, hot, near 90

Mon- mainly sunny, hot and more humid, low-to-mid 90’s; chance for a thunderstorm at night

Tues- partly sunny, hot and humid, chance for a shower or thunderstorm, low-to-mid 90’s

Wed- mainly sunny, warm, upper 80’s
