One more day with the threat for heavy rain and strong wind gusts

Paul Dorian

A frontal system that has hung around this region for the last few days will become the focus for one more day of heavy showers and strong thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms that form this afternoon and evening will contain torrential downpours and damaging wind gusts. The Yankees/Rays game tonight may very well have to deal with some weather delay issues from this system as Derek Jeter tries to get his 3000th career hit. Improvement is in store for the weekend with some sunshine each day as well as warm temperatures. The next chance for a thunderstorm will come by Tuesday as another frontal system approaches the region from the west. Today- mostly cloudy, very humid, not as hot, more widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely with some of the storms containing heavy rains and strong wind gusts, low 80’s

Tonight- still the chance for heavy shower and thunderstorm activity this evening, muggy, lows near 70

Sat- becoming mostly sunny, warm, mid 80’s

Sun- mainly sunny, warm, mid-to-upper 80’s

Mon- mainly sunny, very warm, upper 80’s

Tues- partly sunny, very warm and humid with a chance for a thunderstorm, upper 80’s

Wed- mainly sunny, pleasant, low 80’s
