3:00 PM | Threat for more powerful storms in the Mid-Atlantic

Paul Dorian

Discussion

Severe thunderstorms broke out late last night around the northern periphery of this widespread broiling air mass that extends from the middle of the country to the east coast, and there could be a repeat performance tomorrow night in the Mid-Atlantic region. A boundary zone will hang around the region for the next couple of days and disturbances will rotate along this zone from the Upper Midwest into the Mid-Atlantic enhancing our chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms. One such disturbance will likely generate showers and storms tomorrow night in the Mid-Atlantic and some of the storms that form will contain torrential downpours along with gusty winds and vivid lightning. Stay tuned.
