Discussion

It’ll turn noticeably milder today ahead of the next blast of Arctic air, but the mild weather will come at a price. There will be periods of rain developing today by noon and lasting into tonight – perhaps a thunderstorm or two – and some of the rain can come down hard at times. Colder air will push into the Mid-Atlantic region on Friday and the temperatures will remain well below normal this weekend with another widespread freeze possible again by Sunday morning. In addition to upcoming cold, there will be lots of upper level energy hanging back in this next cold air mass and low pressure is likely to form near the Mid-Atlantic coastline on Saturday. Some snow is likely on Saturday in the I-95 corridor - possibly mixed with rain at times - with accumulations possible of up to a couple of inches; especially, on grassy surfaces to the north and west of the metro region.
